Peter Charles Ashley (formerly Alcock) 1923-2020
Peter was one of the few living survivors of the "D" day landings. In June 1944, as an RAF Flight Engineer, he flew several sorties throughout the night as part of a Sterling crew. He was awarded the Legion d'Honneur by the French State. His career as an engineer continued with him working for Doughty's. He was devoted to his wife Shelagh, his 2 children, and 4 grandchildren. They celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary in April 2020 with a telegram from the Queen. He will be greatly missed.
