Alan was a proud associate member of 49 Squadron R.A.F. He was asked to take over as secretary in 2006 and continued compiling and editing the magazine, entitled The 4T9er, from 2006 until his death in 2020. The last one being Issue 56 dated February 2020. This was something he thoroughly enjoyed doing and took great pride in the finished booklet. In addition, Alan served as a volunteer at Eardington Station on the Severn Valley Railway for many years and was a valued member of the team.
