Thomas Robertson Ewen
My Mums first husband, Thomas Robertson Ewen. A South Shields shipyard joiner, signed up to the RAF January 1941. They married January 13 1942. He flew for the first time with his own crew as their pilot on 7 October 1943, from XV Squadron Mildenhall, Short Stirling EH990 never to return. He was posted as MIA and is remembered on the Runnymede Memorial. Mum's birthday was 9 October and she received the beautiful flowers he had organised for her before he flew, a day after THE telegram :( RIP
